A spring day...

Finally!  The Tulip Poplar trees are getting their leaves.  This is such a welcome sight!

 My chickie dudes like the spring day, too.   Here they are, back in their pen ~ for safety.  But earlier, they got to wander around the yard, scratching and pecking.  Yes, they are hens, but I still call them my dudes.

 Daffodils!  So sunny and cheerful.  I didn't realize that I had a white one.

A Muscari has seeded itself at the edge of the stone path.   Isn't that how we are sometimes?  Trying to grow in a difficult, "rocky" place?

Another brave little plant growing in the rocks.  A reseeded Johnnie.

The blooms on this Veronica are tiny, but oh, so beautiful.   I love the blueness of them.

These are Tete a Tete Daffodils that I planted in the fall.  I think they are so charming.

Today in the Garden...

The Crepe Myrtles are blooming. I think the clusters of flowers this year are the biggest I've ever seen them.



There are 5 of the trees planted in a long row; they were here when we bought the property.




'The Fairy' rose has the sweetest little flowers. I love this bush. Today is my sister's and her husband's wedding anniversary, so here's wishing them a happy anniversary and I'm dedicating this picture to them.

A BIG bumble bee was visiting the Catnip this morning. Even though this is definitely not a showy plant, I really like it. And so do my cats!



And, evidently, the bee does, too.

Incense Cedar...

It was rather startling to be poking around my garden, seeing what was in bloom and what else was going on when suddenly there were these sea creatures staring back at me. But, no that couldn't be. Sea creatures don't grow on trees.




These Things have appeared on my Calocedrus decurrens. They seem to be sort of jelly-like or rubbery. And they are rather disconcerting. Not at all what you would expect to see on an evergreen tree.




I've been told that they are the blooms for the Incense Cedar trees. But I am a little skeptical. I mean, really, have you ever seen a flower that looks like this? Maybe I haven't been around enough. (I call this one The Blob, though I've never seen that movie.)





And what about this one? Don't you think that it looks like it is hiding, lurking, waiting for some unsuspecting garden lover to walk by so it can attack?

Spring blooming trees...

The trees that are blooming right now are amazingly enchanting. They are light and airy and perfect for the new season. And somehow, their colors look so nice with the fresh green of the spring leaves. I wonder if that was planned?



I love seeing all the trees in flower as I go driving around. This is one of my neighbors and I think the pink trees go well with the cute little yellow house. I haven't quite figured out the names of all the trees yet, so I am not sure what these are. They might be Redbuds, but I don't know.




Another one of my neighbors has this stunning Bradford Pear. The Bradford Pears are so beautiful. They are spectacular when they are planted in rows. Lining a front walk, for example.




This tree is on our property and I think it is a flowering plum. As I was taking the pictures, there was a faint fragrance, but I am not sure if it was the tree or the scent of my Hyacinths wafting over to me.
