Betty Prior is a rose that I grew and enjoyed very much in California, so when I started working on an entry-way garden here in North Carolina, I knew I wanted Betty Prior in my garden again.
She is a floribunda and blooms almost continually throughout the growing season. The buds produced are almost red, but they open up to a definite deep pink. This rose was introduced in 1935.
Some of the plants growing around my 'Betty Prior' include Salvias, Coreopsis verticillata 'Moonbeam,' Verbena bonariensis, and some Bachelor Buttons that reseeded. I love the color combination.
When I was taking pictures, I discovered a little sweat bee inside of this bloom.
You can see how much 'Betty Prior' adds to the garden. And why I like this charming rose bush so much.
Have a beautiful day!
